I got this notification:

but the interesting thing is that I haven't done anything that could get the trojan into the system at that moment... I opened a laptop and this appeared... so how come it detected it after it was probably active for some time already....

Someone on reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2fmvrt/osxcointhiefa/) suggested that I reformat the system.... really? So please clarify if the threat was detected before it could be active for sure or not... and also if it's gone now 100% or I have to reformat...

thank you

david

So apparently this has been on my system from April 25th... :/

Even if it became recognized by webroot only recently (today?) how come the .plist file that boots this was able to get installed?
Well I'm no Mac expert but I would tell a PC user to Submit a Support Ticket and they will check to make sure if it is malware and if so will remove it for you free of charge! Please let us know the outcome as it could help others and us Helpers as well!

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
Hi davidhq

Not being a Mac/OSX expert all I can say that if it is a 'legitimate' piece of malware then WSA should detect it as and when it attempts to execute it's payload/carry out it's mission...but not if it is dormant/inactive (that is how WSA works)...and if that has not happened then I would Open a Support Ticket ASAP, so that the professionals on the Support Team get investigate and help you rid yourself of it.

Apologies that I cannot be of anymore assistance then that at this time.

Regards, Baldrick
