Hello,

We were given an older Gateway laptop and it came with Webroot installed. We want to use another vendors malware / virus protection but find that the installed version of Webroot gives us grief.

When I tried to uninstall it, a message came up that only the network administrator can remove it. No such thing on my home network.

I tried using C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall  and got the same message.

I downloaded the removal tool and was messaged that the program was unistalled but it is still there. Ran it as adminstator but the results were the same.

In desperation, I removed all the referances to webroot in the registary and it still came back.

I am out of options.

I don't know what the serial number is so can't use the cloud tool to remove the sofware either.

Any ideas?

Henk
Hello Henkv,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

If you cannot uninstall Webroot from the Control Panel please look here:https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/PC-Uninstallation-Option-Missing-f..

When you use the commandline options included in the documents linked then pelase make sure that you run the command in an elevated prompt, running under administrator privileges.

You could try to uninstall Webroot in Safe Mode.

Hope this helps and if not please post back.

Hi Henkv

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would reboot and then try the uninstall commandline making sure that (i) you have exited WSA and that it is no longer running & (ii) that you are sure that you have started the command prompt under admin rights.

If none of that works then you will need to Open a Support Ticket to get the Support Team to look into the issue and help you uninstall WSA.

Regards, Baldrick
The process worked when I did it in safemode. Even then, at first it told me I needed to be adminstrator, which I was, then a minute later, it started to uninstall. The uninstalled worked well then. Thanks again.
Hi Henkv,

That's great, thanks for letting us know.:D
