I now have both Webroot and McAfee protection - should I turn off the McAfee?
Hi BobT

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The simple answer is 'Yes'...but I would say that wouldn't I...;)

So let me explain for why.  McAfee and WSA effectively do the same job (I and other would say that WSA does a better job...but that is a moot point) and whilst they will both run together quite happily (primarily because WSA is designed from the ground up to be compatible with all other major security apps) WSA is lighter on the system, than McAfee, both in terms of system resources consumed, the fact that most of the threat detection is done in the Cloud, etc., and therefore why impose further drag on your system by running both apps.

It is true that WSA does not include Parental Control or email scanning (but of course WSA will instantly pick up any threat that comes via email as soon as it attempts to activate/run) most of us here do not find a need for these and if we do then specific 3rd party apps are used.  But if both of these are very important to you then at least you know and can form your judgement on that basis.

I hope that helps?  Please feel free to ask any further questions you may have on the subject, and we will try to answer them..

Hello

Webroot SecureAnywhere s high level configuration ensures that users do not become too caught up in technical detail. The install process is fast and the initial scan is very fast. Malware blocking, removal and clean-up is excellent. The embedded firewall program control combined with Identity Shield features protects browsers and sensitive websites.

Webroot SecureAnywhere  is a small package ,but it provides effective protection.
