Is there now a known solution to getting Webfilters to work in Win 8.1 and/or Win 10?  Bonus question what about when using Sandboxie?  (both are 64 bit pro versions with everything updated.  This issue has existed on multiple systems not just one.  Some of those systems have had nothing but Online Armor or, now, Emsisoft Internet security; Webroot; and Sandboxie)

In an older post Baldrick (waves at Baldrick!) stated.

  • If you have the time please check what version of the extension you are using as it is also possible that you do not have the up to date version; sometimes it appears that whilst WSA itself updates the extensions do not 'move up' with the main app
I don't see how to do that.  Checked Task Manager and Control Panel > Programs.

A Silver VIP then stated:

  • Since the Web Filter is supposed to be a major part of our protection, please also submit a Trouble Ticket  so that Webroot Support will have more information to work with in order to repair the problems you are having
Well, in Win 7 it worked great.  Initially it worked in Win 8.1 (IE11) but, later it quit working,  A painful work-around was found to get it to partially work in IE 11 but in Sandboxie it doesn't work at all.  Don't know about today but it also didn't work in Win 10 at all.  I have opened tickets and was "helped" but essentially it simply doesn't work.

Clean reinstalls of Webroot have not helped.  Browsing has become so tedious I now use BrightCloud to check and, as you can imagine, research has become VERY tedious.

My method that was working was the following, but this no longer works.

Open Sandboxie and open IE 11.  To see the green/red/etc icons I used IE 11.  Since the first screen has no icons I would select page 2 (has icons) then page 3, etc.  Once a page was reached, usually page 3, with no icons then select page 1 and usually page 1 would now have the icons.  Then, using Sandboxie, review pages with green icons.

Painful, yes, but is one reason only 1 virus in 35 years has made it to my computer.
Hi ExpertNovice (Baldrick waves back)

The only place to check what extension is actually installed ina browser is to go to the Addons/Extension Manager for the browser in questyion and check for the following:

Please note this is what you would see when in the Chrome Extensiosn Manager (the display may look somewhat different in other browsers) , and I should point out that the versions that I am running will not the the latest General Release versions as I have a betta version of WSA installed.

If you post back what you find in terms of version nos. we can advise as to whether you dohave the latest or not.

Now, as far as I am aware the Webroot extensions have worked for me under Win8/Win 8.1 & currently under Win 10 they are working fine too.

Please advise as to which browser you are using and we might be able to offer a manual workaround in terms of getting them installed in your browser(s).

One minor after thought; do you use the installer version of your browser or per chance the portable versions...as that will also make a difference?

Regards, Baldrick
