When my daily automatic scan was about to run thie morning (11.17hrs) a message flashed up on the screen saying 'Webroot is downloading...' The flash was so fast, probably less than a second that I could not read the rest of the text. In the event the scheduled scan did not then run, so I carried out a manually triggered one immediately after, which seemed normal. Does anybody know what this message was and what its intention ?

I have never seen myself or heard of this beahviour...but perhaps another member had and will advise on this.
In the interim, if you are concerned, then I would Open a Support Ticket to advise the Support Team of this and to request their feedback on this.
If yo do deceide to do so then please be kind enough to post back here as to what they say as this sort of feedback is very useful to us in helping members with similar questions in the future.

Hello Baldrick, Thanks for the response. I did in fact open a Upport Ticket with Webroot yesterday afternoon & await the reply. Certainly I have never seen such a message before during the several years that I have used Webroot. The flash message stopped the scheduled scam from starting,although I ran a manually triggered scan shortly afterwards which appeared normal as have subsequent scans. I'll report back to the Community when I get a reply from Support.

From my personal experience coming from Tech Support for a year, that message is just when an automatic update has been found and happens almost instantaneously. Sounds like it just wanted to get you on the latest version. I would try checking for updates manually and if it says you're on the latest version of SecureAnywhere now, you really should have nothing to worry about.

Hi JP, Thanks for this helpful response and the assurance that it was just an automatic update which I am set to receieve as per my account set up. The step by step guide has confirmed that I am up to date. No doubt this activity occurs regularly but is not usually visible.

Thanks for the feedback...useful to know. Perhaps it was noticed due to the system running more slowly than usual. ;) I will certainly keep an eye just I case I can spot the same.

Hi Baldrick, Well we live & learn. Support have been back to me via e-mail virually confirming JP's input- and also told me that they had had a look at my Logs and that my PC is clean. As for the Flash message I suppose its just possible that it came through at exactly the same second as the scan was about to start. Anyway- all's well that ends well- and you can't fault Webroot's support level and speed- some other simlar companies used by other folk I know do not enjoy the same level of support- and are often asked for payment to resolve a system query. So I shall be staying with Webroot.
