After uninstalling WSA, the core and sky services persist, causing problems with other software. Because they are placed as system files, they resist normal and reasonable means to remove them.

They also resist removal by people with some technical skill. And other AV programs. And Webroot’s own cleanup executables.

I would think that software that cannot be uninstalled by the computer owner with reasonable effort would qualify as malicious.

Of course, sending in a support ticket has gotten zero response. I approach an hour waiting for someone to pick up the phone.

Hello @SBG

Please follow the steps closely!

  • Go into Safe Mode and Delete these Folders if they are there!
  • C:\Program Files\Webroot Folder
  • C:\ProgramData\WRData Folder (Hidden Folder)
  • C:\ProgramData\WRCore Folder (Hidden Folder)
  • Boot back into normal mode

Info in case you don’t know how to go into Safe Mode: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode-in-windows-10-92c27cff-db89-8644-1ce4-b3e5e56fe234

Please let us know if that resolves your issue?

Thanks,

Support did pick up eventually and the services were removed -- that is pretty much how it happened. Thus far the correction has survived a restart and seems to be holding.
