Can I ask what version of Windows you have? Is it W/7 , W/Vista, or W/ 8.1? In W/8.1 you can install the Photo Gallery and it will do a search of pictures on your computer.

 

Have you checked the trash? Maybe a System Restore point? With Windows 7 you can go to the Start button and do you see Recent Items?

 Also try Search..

 

To search for a file or folder:

• Click Start, and then click Search.
  
• In the Search Companion dialog box, click All files and folders.
  
• Type part or all of the name of the file or folder, or type a word or phrase that is in the file.
