Yes, indeed it will. WSA will scan the download for malware (which includes viruses, and a whole lot more besides) as well as PUAs or Potentially Unwanted Applications.

 

The latter are non-malware programs that are very annoying at best in that they cause pop-ups, redirect your browser home page, and other behaviour that may slow down the computer and direct ads your way, but they are not actually doing anything bad like damaging files or stealing information. Often they are installed when they 'piggy back' with other software that you installed, or try to 'sneak' onto your system entirely.

 

So all in all you are well covered by WSA.

Thanks but I don't see any scan process running. Is there some kind of right click to scan option?

There is indeed...if you right click on the file that you want to scan you should see and be able to select, from the context menu displayed, the 'Scan with Webroot' option which will initiate a default scan on the file concerned.

 

In terms of the scanning of downlaods please seem the following processes that can be viewed via the Task Manager:
