With Firefox, I get frequent "unresponsive script" dialogue boxes that hang the operation. The Firefox help page says this might be caused by Webroot Spy Sweeper, and to disable "cookie tracking." But I can't find info on Webroot on how to do that. 1. Has this solved the problem for others?

2. How do I do it?
Hello aar4,

Welcome to the Community Forum,

Look here for more information. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unresponsive_Script_Error and here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences

Please look at this thread and see if it helps you sort this out.

Hope this help,

Kind Regards,

Sherry,

Thanks, but that first page tells me to look for Webroot's "web browser shield" -- WR must have changed its lineup in the last several years because I can't find any reference to web browsers anywhere on the dashboard or its links (including to "shields.) The second page is a Mozilla page that tells me to disable WR cookie tracker, which is where I started.

Ideas?

Hello aar4,

Please look here at the PC User Guide

But you can go into the Firefox Settings to the upper right corner menu and click Addons and disable the webfilter there  and then later you can enable it.

Does this help any?

Maybe @ or @ can also assist here?

Regards,
Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community!

Yes there are issues with the Web Filter and we Beta Testers are using a new version that seems to be working well and we have not heard when they are going to release to all Consumers. Also look here to see the Web Filter in Firefox and yours must be still at 1.0.2.42 as you can see we Beta testers are usin g 1.1.0.57 so Webroot is working hard on this issue.

Thanks,

Daniel ;)

Well, I went to Firefox Add-ons Manager, and in Extensions it said Webroot Filtering Extension 1.0.2.42 is already disabled. So I'm not sure where to go from there.

Sherry: I don't want to suppress the warnings. I want to avoid the unresponsive scripts that trigger the warnings.

Thanks for your help. Any other ideas?

Hello aar4,

Sorry we aren't getting anywhere with this but can you look here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/764475

Maybe resetting FF Browser? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Running out of ideas. Hope this helps though! @ do you have any ideas?

Kind Regards,
Hi aar4,

Welcome to the Community!

Well it's hard to say what exactly can cause this issue, beacuse as Daniel has mentioned before - as Beta testers we're using different vesrion of the Filtering Extension.

These symptoms are quite strange, I've been using FF for a very long time with the Filtering Extension always enabled and I never noticed similar issues.

My first thoughts are: Do you use any other additions/extensions in FireFox - eg. for blocking ads, etc?

Did you check FireFox status in the Identity Protection module ( there are three options - Protect Allow and Deny)

I would also check the Active Control Processes - to be sure if FireFox or it's Plugin Container are not being "Monitored" or "Blocked".

Regards,

Mike

BTW: If the Filtering Extension is disabled and the issues still appear I would also try Sherry's advice and reset FireFox.

If it doesn't help I would probably do it's clean re-installation.
I'll try all these fixes and let you know what happens.

Thank you all. I appreciate your help.
