Well, it just goes to show that the best place for informaiton about the system requirements of a app is from the author's website rather than a 3rd party site. If you consult the Webroot site you will find this:

Anyways in case you couldn't have already guessed it I went ahead and started a free trial on my win7 machine and no surprises on the very first scan it found 2 trojans.

What you are seeing and describing sounds like it may be what we on the Community refer to as a PUA.
(Potentially Unwanted Application) These are very annoying at best in that they cause pop-us, redirect your browser home page, and other behavior that may slow down the computer and direct ads your way, but they are not actually doing anything bad like damaging files or stealing information. Often they are installed intentionally by you the user as browser add-ons for various tasks such as quick search tools.. but they also come with the result of added annoying pop-ups and ads. Other times they 'piggy back' with other software that you installed, or try to 'sneak' onto your system entirely.
WSA does detect and remove many PUA's, and more are being added, but WSA does not detect all of them. A simple browser add-on with PUA behavior that is easy to identify and easy to remove is not likely to be detected and removed by WSA. Those that are intentionally difficult to locate and remove are. For those that are not detected by WSA, please see this
KB Article. It has some easy to follow directions on locating and removing PUA's. You may also want to submit a
Trouble Ticket, especially if you cannot remove it easily from the directions in the KB Article.
For those that ARE detected by WSA, but cannot be removed automatically, you can submit a
Trouble Ticket. Webroot Support will help you get these annoying
'crapware' off your computer at no extra charge, and the additional examples may help to better automatic removal of that particular PUA for all users in the future.
To make sure that your WSA is checking for PUA's with the best proficiently, it sometimes helps to reset the PUA detection within WSA's settings. For PUA's that had previously been scanned and determined to be OK, but have since been added to detection/removal, you may want to complete the following steps:
- Open Webroot SecureAnywhere
- Click on ‘Advanced Settings’ from the top right
- Select ‘Scan Settings’ from the left side
- Unselect the option “Detect Potentially Unwanted Applications”
- Click on the Save button (you may have to enter in a CAPTCHA)
- Reselect the option to “Detect Potentially Unwanted Applications”
- Click on the Save button
- Run another scan with Webroot and remove any items that get detected.
To help avoid PUA's in the future, remember to read all of the information when installing or updating software (Adobe downloads often have those "extra special offers"attached... PUA'S!: often the PUA included will be mentioned, and you can opt out of installing it. Those check boxes you see? Usually only one of them is for the User Agreement of the software you want, the others are for the junk you don't.
I recommend a good Ad Blocker, too. Here are some recommendations:

I did some serious resets of IE and it's sort of cured. Now IE launches this page 1st (it's always blank) then I have to click my home icon to launch the real MSN default page as listed in IE options - general.
Sort of a fix but there's no program listed in control panel and I did install a file fixit type program and I didn't read the T&C cause there weren't any.
Yikes coffee sure is hot today. I deleted the program but it was too latee.
Just one last thing I started a new trial with this pc and the status now shows I'm good for 600 odd days?
The remainder of my sign up but that was on another machine Is this right?

Did you install the trial on a machine that already had Webroot installed? If so, please do an uninstall/clean reinstall on said machine. When you do the reinstall be sure to download/install the
trial available here.
Please follow the steps closely!
- KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
- Uninstall WSA and Reboot
- Install with the new installer from above trial link. DO NOT import any settings if offered by the installer as you can set it up as you like once it's done
- Let it finish it's install scan
- Reboot once again

This is a new installation on a new machine.
went for the trial. Cause I'm cheap like that.
It's two machines two os and one paid for copy and a trial.
The trial on this machine suddenly turnmed into a paid for copy..My paid for copy is on the other machine.
How many machines are covered with the one payment?
On the virus front things aren't any better.
I thnk they want money now.
That or there is a God.

That depends on how many licenses you originally purchased. They are usually sold in 1, 3, and 5 license subscriptions.

Actually you don't have a virus, you are just getting popups that want you to think you do so that you will pay them to "repair" things for you. THIS IS A SCAM!

Yeaks it was a popup thing going on and not Jehovahhs Hoardes chasing me down. So relieved.
I uninstalled everything and restored and everything is now pretty much back to normal.
All except this one last question your Great Daddyness:
THIS WAS BEFORE I RESTORED - I was getting this as I logged in. I used to use IE8 on my old xp - the one I bought the copy for BUT this is IE11.
Any ideas how come I get a browser warning on this machine (IE11) for IE8 ?
Just let me know if I can upgrade to 3 in one hit with the existing paid for copy.
Can I save a few bucks and trial on this machine Y/N ?

To check how many licenses you have please log in to your
Web Console.
In the column under
Keycodes click on "
view" . This will show you how many devices you have for that license.

Regarding licenses; If you want 2 licenses then you only need to buy one since you already have one. If you want 3 then, yes, you can purchase a 3 license subscription. (which will leave you with one additional license- could use for phone if you like).
Not sure about the IE issue. I am unable to see your posted pics until a moderator approves them.
You can use the trial, but it only lasts 2 weeks, after which you will need to purchase a license to continue using.

Thanks for the low down on the licences. It's all good and you guys know your onions and I like a man who knows his onions. Maybe one day we'll make stew. I'll buy one more copy of Webroot for the win 7 but only after the trial. It all got so confusing I uninstalled the win 7 Webroot and will reinstall the trial again later today. Just hope it doesn't do what the last Webroot did and morph into the win xp copy. I'll let you know what happens. This is plain Text. It's quite dull but does the job.
