Auto renewal

Just sorted out my renewal for this year, and found that an auto renewal had been triggered for later renewals.
I really feel that this should be an opt in option and not just have a blanket inclusion.
Automatic renewal cannot take into account my paydate which in most cases is very unlikely to coincide with the date the payment is taken.
This is particularly true of December renewals.
I have opted out of it but I feel that being forced to opt out, when an opt in system would be simpler for the end user is not the best way to foster good consumer relations.
