Why does it cost more to upgrade online than to buy another copy from the store? If I buy a copy in the store and install, what do I lose?

Hi ?,
Welcome to the Webroot Community.
Retailers are free to set their own prices for Webroot and prices will vary depending on where you purchase. We in the Community always recommend purchasing Webroot from a reputable seller. We do not recommend individual sellers on ebay or Amazon. Best Buy stores also sell their own version of Webroot. If you already own a Best Buy version then you will need to purchase the new disk from Best Buy. Regardless of where you purchased you will also need to purchase the exact same version of Webroot (Anti-Virus, Internet Security Plus, or Complete) to retain the same functions/features you currently have. Finally, I assume you have the Complete version of Webroot since that is the forum in which you posted, if you use the Password Manager or Backup & Sync you will need to contact support and give them your new keycode so that they can transfer that information to your new keycode. You will also lose any remaining days on your old keycode so it's best to wait until the day before your subscription expires to add new one. If you want to add a new keycode to an existing keycode you can contact support and have them do that too (allow 24-48 hours for support response).
Hope you find some of this information useful. :)
Have a Happy Holiday,
