I use Google Apps with my own domain name, and Google provide desktop applications for windows which launch Gmail and others in their own window.

Immediately after installing WebRoot, Gmail hung on loading.  I turned off the WebRoot firewall, and it was OK.  Subsequent launches also succeed.

I am evaluating WebRoot before putting on 4 PCs in my home, and I am hoping that this kind of thing isn't going to keep coming up.

Can anyone explain what happened here, and if this is a common experience?
Are any of these apps or any other .exe's being Monitored or Blocked? You can check by clicking Utilities, System Control and then Start under Control Active Processes.
No (at least, not any more).

The problem went away after I turned off the firewall, started Gmail (successfully) and then restarted it.

It has not re-occurred with this application or any other since.

Cheers,

Thanks for the additional informantion. If it occurs again, I think it would be best for us to collect wsa logs to investigate further. Please do not perform an uninstall/reinstall so that we can keep a cleaner record of wsa logs.
