Something new you say? Webroot is the lightest AV you can get. More eye candy you are saying? I would prefer Protection of Malware and Ransomeware and all the other threats that Webroot is catching compared to any other AV that are behind the times..As Webroot is Cloud based and always updating it's data bases continuously.
WSA is where it's at and it's the future and it's here now! How can the others keep up with more than 500,000 new Malware everyday and over a 143 million in 2014 alone but the WIN Cloud can: http://www.brightcloud.com/platform/webroot-intelligence-network.php
Webroot afraid of change? I think other AVs are afraid of change IMO.;)

I can answer those things quite easily actually because it is how I got involved with Webroot.
For years I used other AV's and was forever suffering the long downloads of new signature bases, the long scan times and last but nowhere near least the depletion of system resources.
I wanted something new, quick, light, easy, in other words I wanted a change so I dipped my toe very hesitantly at first despite being told that I did not need another AV while running WSA.
Unlike the rest it is light, installs in minutes and by that I do not mean 10's of minutes like the rest of them. It updates like greased lightening to the degree that you do not know it has updated unless you look. Scans are extremely quick, gone are the long waits of over an hour waiting for a scan to finish, now I just carry on while the scan runs and there is no slow down at all.
You say afraid of change, that is a strange one because at present I can see the other AV vendors switching over to cloud based programs almost as if they are trying to catch up with us.
OH! And now I only use Webroot, there is no need to run another AV, I am a convert and intend to stay with it.

There's actually quite a bit going on in the way of improvements, and some of it is very much on the cutting edge. A lot of this is "behind the scenes" and not things that you would see in the product as new features. These improvements will have an impact where it matters though - improving our ability to protect you from malware an other threats.@ wrote:

I was actually on a call recently where this came up. Our focus is on protecting you from malware and viruses, and that is a continuously evolving task. Most of our focus is on improving the protection we give you, which is all stuff under the hood and isn't related to shiny new features. We like to do what we are good at and what accomplishes our main mission, which is to keep you safe. Adding bells and whistles doesn't really add to that. At the end of the day, security software should keep you safe, and be unobtrusive. When you don't notice us at all, that means we are doing our job 🙂
