How do I get open source downloads?

A good source for open source software is http://sourceforge.net/ - Some of the installers on sourceforge do include bundled software, but there is usually a small "Direct Download" link under the install button that will install only the app you are trying to install. For Java you would want to go to http://java.com/en/
 
Google has recently made updates to their Ad policies to help eliminate ads for third-party downloaders and has made it very easy to identify the official download sources for software. You can see our blog about that here.
