My older pc's were dying and pc matic sved them. What is better about Webroot?

Webroot is a recognized & Trusted Security program....................................on the other hand,
PC Matic is software which claims to be an optimizing tool with registry cleaning capability (click the Features tab) that purports to improve performance, make repairs, enhance the speed of a computer, remove viruses and prevent Cryptolocker infections. PC Matic does not come with anti-virus protection which can find and remove malware as the TV advertisements indicate. The Overview tab says it provide protection against threats by utilizing a white list that only allows trusted applications to run. If you read the information under the Features tab on the vendor's website it only says the product protects against modern security threats...and it doesn't say how.
These types of junk optimization programs are often considered Potentially unwanted Programs (PUA's) and the claims they make are borderline scams. There is no statistical evidence to back such claims. Advertisements to do so are a marketing ploy intended to goad users into using an unnecessary and potential dangerous product. I would not trust any results the program detects as problematic or needing repair nor recommend using the options to fix them. I also would not trust any detection alerts for viruses or other malware.

Hello lsmith02052000, Welcome to the Webroot Community Forum. :D
Webroot is very light on your system. It's run in the cloud. I've used WSA since day one along with CCleaner (Free). WSA watches over my computer and CCleaner cleans all the unwanted stuff. Btw: WSA Complete also has a cleaner that I also use.
See this Video to see how Webroot works.
Also look at the comments about PC Matic

Welcome to the Community Forum,
Absolutely WSA protects with the power of the Webroot Intelligence Network doing all the work in the Cloud...no definitions dowloads for you with WSA as all the definitions are updated & helps centrally in the Cloud, etc.. as shown below.
http://www.brightcloud.com/
If WSA ever "misses" a threat, it can still revert all of the changes that threat made to the system just as soon as it realizes the program is, in fact, a threat. Whenever an unknown program that the cloud isn't sure about yet is introduced into a system, WSA is monitoring it. During the course of that monitoring, it's journaling all of the activities of that program. If the program is ultimately marked as "good" in the cloud database, WSA stops journaling it and clears its log of that program's data since it won't be needing to ever look at it again. On the other hand, if it's marked as "bad," WSA will quarantine the threat and use that journaled data to roll back all of the changes the threat has made since its introduction to the computer - in effect, putting things back the way they were before the threat ever showed up. That is detailed more in this video:https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-Education/What-Happens-if-Webroot-quot-Misses-quot-a-Virus/ta-p/10202

So there are reviews of PC Manic on Amazon.and other websites...As I've never used PC Manic but maybe our other Forum Members can tell you more. I can only tell you about Webroot and why I am a fan.
Sorry If I went overboard ..I'm just an enthusiastic user of Webroot. The Support can't be beat for it's free with a Webroot subscription.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
