After upgrading my laptop to Windows 10, my Webroot Secure Anywhere software does not run.  Windows Defender is running. Suggestions on how to get Webroot to run ?
Hi jimparsley

This is known to happen from time to time for some users, so you might try a clean Install, having first checked to make sure that WSA is not still installe, and just not showing up as running.

Do this by:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for the reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode when so prompted.
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
What should now happen is that Windows 10 should detect that another AV/IS application has been installed and therefore shut down WIndows Defender. That is the theory...but if this fails to resolve the problem, you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is directly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by submitting a Support Ticket if you have not already done so, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.

Baldrick,

The WR software still shows up on the Program List, so I think that it is still installed.  However, I cannot get it to run.  Should I "uninstall" it and then follow your suggestions ?
Hi Jim

Nice spot! Yes, please make sure that you uninstall the version that you have installed, rebooting once that has been done, and then follow the instructions provided previously.

If you find that you are having trouble uninstalling please take a look at the contents of this KB Article which despite it's title does include general uninstallation tips that may help.

Uninstalling took quite a while because of an "Administrator" login barrier.. However your tip about how to uninstall worked when all else failed.  Reinstallation of Webroot was easier than I expected, and all seems to be working well now.  Thanks again for a great assist!
