Can you tell me how to get the internet to come up with Webroot Active please.
Hello Gunner,

May I ask what browser are you using?

On the assumption you are using Chrome...

You are very much not alone: scrolling through posts here the last several days shows quite a few others have been affected as well.  The problem is rooted in a new set of Extensions that Webroot has issued which will end up giving us a far better product in the end.

At the moment, however, the Chrome extension is being a bit stubborn, as you have noticed.  Webroot is very much aware of the situation and is working to correct it.

If you are using WSA-Complete, you migth try running the System Optimizer to see if it will be of help, as Support as reported to us the broswer cache/history clearning utilities seem to fix the problem.

If this does not work for you, please submit a Trouble Ticket to have Webroot Support give you a hand with this.  There is no charge as Support services are included with your valied WSA license.

I have also heard it reported that Support has used CCleaner for customers that do not have WSA-Complete's System Optimizer with good results as well.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm using Internet Explorer with Google in Windows 7

I actually had to shut down Webroot to get here.

I will try as you sujested.
So I had Webroot turned off. After I left here a minute ago I double clicked the Webroot Icon on my desktop and it asked if I wanted to let Webroot make changes to my hard drive. This time I clicked "no". It went back to my desktop and I double clicked the Webroot Icon again and it came up with out the "make changes" aspect.

I then minimized it and clicked on the Google Icon and it came up.

Internet has returned with webroot active.

Any explanation for that ?

Strange........

and I want to say hi again to you ShorTcircuiT
Gunner,

I am really not sure why it is acting that way, though hopefully Support will be able to explain it.  I am rather curious too I have to admit.

Sorry I missed your reply.. very soon after I posted my first reply I was asleep for the night.

One thing that you might try is a clean install, and see if that will help.  (Remove WSA, reboot, reinstall WSA)  Since you are a bit of a regular here I won't bother with typing out the exact details of how to do the clean install, but if you need them please let us know!

EDIT  Now that I have been awake a few more minutes, I have a bit of an idea.  There was a new version released over the last couple of days I believe.  If for some reason it failed to install correctly, it might very well have the results you are seeing.  The new version, if you have it, is doing the start of some major improvements to the web filter extensions and some changes to the software itself as well.  If that is correct, then the clean install should fix things for you.
The problem is back.

I will talk to you soon about how to do the re installation.

Thanks
Here is the method that we usually provde for doing it:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
After that last reboot, then try to open your browser and see how it does.

Good luck, hopefully this will fix it!
Thank you very much.

Everything seems to be working fine.

Really appreciate it.
Excellent!  Glad it is back to working, and thank you for letting us know 🙂
