Are all filles in all programs automatically erased and over-written when deleted?
By playing videos posted on the internet are they downloded to the computer first in order to play it? (I thought I have noticed videos indicate "downloading" when clicked on play" without choosing any download option. If so are all traces of it erased when closed?
Is there any other way to follow up and clean over-write empty hardrive space? I thought that was an option in the older Window Cleaner version but don't see that an option with secure erase

Hi ?,
Welcome to the Webroot Community.
You are correct that when you play a video it is usually downloaded to a temp file. I'm pretty sure that using the System Optimizer removes these temp files. As far as data being over-written, this can be done if your Secure Erase settings are Medium or Maximum. The default is Normal, which deletes files but does not over-write them, so you would need to change that setting in Advanced settings (upper right of WSA interface).
You can also securely erase files by right-clicking on them and selecting "Permanently erase with Webroot" (will be over-written with setting on Med or Max)
Hope this helps to answer your question. If not please let us know and we will be happy to help you. :)

Hi mulesear
Welcome to the Community Forums.
If I may add to what BD has posted...there are a number of freeware 3rd party apps that will do what you are looking to do, i.e., erase/overwrite all freespace on hyour heard drive but WSA will not do that.
If you would like to provate message me I can provide you with a few suggestions as to which ones to look at re. this. I cannot do so in this forum as it is contrary to Community Guidelines.
