Why does the system optimizer log list items deleted from the recycle bin when the recycle bin was empty prior to optimizing?
Hi checksix

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I have to say that I have never seen or heard of this happening beofre...and indeed I have just tried to recreate this having first checked to see whether there was anything lurking in the Recycke Bin (and there was not) and nothing from there was flagged in the Log.

The best thing that I can suggest is that you monitor the situation for a few days and try a few more runs of the System Optimizer to see if you can recreate the issue...if and when you manage to then please post back here with detaisl and base don that we will see if we can sugest a suitable course of action for you to resolve the issue.

Apologies that I cannot come up with more at the moment.

Thanks for the reply Baldrick.

I have run system optimizer a dozen times, clearing the log after each use. It is repeating the same items in the log that have been deleted previously. Not just from the recycle bin but temp files,Inetcache, and history.

Hi checksix

Many thanks for coming back and letting us know.  I have to say that I am some what surprised and nonplussed by your findings...I have done the same and cannot replicate what you are describing.

I will continue trying but in the interim you might try a Uninstall/REBOOT/Clean Install.  In terms of the process please follow the below:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again

If this fails to resolve the problem, you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is dirctly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by Opening a Support Ticket, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.

As I said previoulsy I will keep trying to replicate what you are seeing and will try to post back eitherway once I have whether I have suceeded or not.

Hello Baldrick,

I uninstalled WSA, rebooted system, installed new WSA program, rebooted system without any imports.

Ran system optimizer, viewed log and it still lists the same items as before. System seems to be working fine except for repeating items in log. Opened a support ticket with Webroot. Will let you know how things turn out.
