This may seem like the wrong place for this, but someone please help. I have a laptop for work that is connected to my home wifi - the other day I was looking up some personal medical searches on google, and one of the sites was labelled as "coached" but didnt realize it. When I clicked on the site it said access restricted!  I DID NOT hit accept, and quickly closed the browser. Now I am very worried that my work will somehow penalize me for what I have done??? Please someone reassure me, I wasn't looking up anything bad just personal, and I had good intentions. Thanks!
Hi johnb881

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I am not sure that I understand what the issue is with a site that is "labelled as "coached""?  Could you explain just what it is you are worried about in terms of your work?

BTW if you did not enter the site, i.e.e, did not accept the option to then the most that you work may have is the fact that you clicked on the site...but in the overall scheme of things I would doubt that this would have come to the attention of your work IT department unless they are scanning all traffic and that for specific phrases, words and or sites.

Personally, I would not worry too much about it especially as it was a genuine 'mistake' and your intent was not nefarious.  But if you want to remove the traces from your susytem then I would make sure that you permanently delete your browsing history...there is usually an option to do that under the settings menu for the browser that you are using.

Hi johnb881 and welcome.

I don't think that anyone can say whether or not you will be in any kind of trouble or not.  It would be enrirely dependant on the policies of your company and just how stringent they are on enforcing them.  If you did not do anything directly against company policy you probably have nothing to worry about.

Speaking only from my own experience, and having worked for a company with several hundred thousand employees,  I think they fully expected that employees, on their own time,  would do a little surfing.

So, if you did nothing wrong, I would not worry about it and make yourself sick until you have a real reason to do so.

Best Regards,

Dave
Thank you for your reply! I was searching for some personal health issues, and the website I clicked on was called like health resource or something or other, and for some reason it was coached, and then the coached screen indicated it contained "adult-oriented content" , which as soon as I saw I closed the browser. So now I'm stil worried that somethingbad wil happen! Thanks for your help
You are very welcome.

Just hang in there and if anything is said just let them know what you just explained to us.  It is not uncommon to get lured into pages like that, even with the best of intentions.

Take care and good luck,

Dave

ok thanks - does anybody know how the whole "coached" website works (i.e. when you do a google search some sites are allowed, coached or blocked) - does every website you go on get reported by webroot to your employer? or only certain sites etc. ? Thanks
I am not familiar with it but perhaps @ can assist.
Apologies but I have never come across 'coached' sites...my Google search are are not restricted in any way.  As far as "does every website you go on get reported by webroot to your employer" I would not know as I am not an expert on the Business version of WSA...perhaps @ might be able to advise on that point?
