Is there a way to install and get the web filtering extension to work in the 64 bit version of Firefox which is the Waterfox browser (the latest version 37.0.1) ?

The Webroot password toolbar is available to install in Waterfox but the web filtering extension is not listed as available.

I ran the toolbar fix mentioned on the Webroot forums for Firefox but it still did not offer the filtering extension for Waterfox.

Webroot did not automatically add Waterfox to the listed applications/browsers that are protected so I added it manually.

I hope the driver based web filtering is available soon so we can use more/different browsers and get to use the web filtering/full features of Webroot.
Hi prickly_cactus

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Whilst Waterfox is a Firefox derivative it is not, I believe, officially supported by Webroot re. the WSA extensions, and I am not aware of any plans to make it so in the near future.  If you would like to petition for this to hapeen then you can start a Feature Request (linkat top of the page) and see whgere that leads.

Having said that one of our number, @, has produced guidance on a workaround for the Palemoon browswer which like Waterfox is Firefox-based and which if you feel technically competent you may like to try (please see here for the relevant KB Article).

A couple of things to NOTE:

1. This is not officially by Webroot and so you will be unable to get any support from the Support Team if things go wrong now or in the future.

2. Despite Waterfox using the same Mozilla base engine, Waterfox does NOT create a seperate data profile like Palemoon does.

Therefore, if you try to use this in Waterfox, it will completely remove the extension from Firefox, and you won't be able to use it in Firefox again.

All fine and dandy if you have no need of Firefox now or in the future...please heed the warning and consider this carefully before deciding to progress.

Hope that helps, as far as it goes?

Regards, Baldrick
