I’ve used Webroot for years - happily. Within the last week, the full scan seems to take about twice as long, around 10 minutes instead of 4-5 minutes. I am wondering:
- Is a file of suspect websites and other scanning match targets kept on my home PC, or
- Are the match targets kept on the Webroot server?
This morning’s scan said something like “using Webroot database.” I have never noticed that wording before. I glanced at my residential gateway (modem) and the fiber-to-local converter box, and both indicated high activity - lots of flashing green lights. I interpret this to mean that files on my PC are being compared to the Webroot server, not to a file kept on my home PC.
Recently I added Visual Studio to my PC, and one or two other software items that suddenly seem to be taking up a lot of space. (I’m doing a lot of personal training using LinkedIn Learning, and in some cases downloading LIL’s provided example tiles.) These items might be the cause of the extended scan time.
I still have plenty of available space.
Opinions are welcome and invited. Thanks.
