Hello Everyone.

I have the webroot secure anywhere, and I don't have the window's Firewall On. I get this message to T?urn on the Window's Firewall.

What is the best recommendation

Note: I am running Window 10

Thank you very much.
Hello Venus60,

Yes turn on Windows Firewall (it covers the inbound connections whilst WSA's Firewall handles the outbound connections).

Please see this KB Article for more information on the subject.

Hope this helps?

Also have a look at the product guide: http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C4_Firewall/CH4a_ManagingFirewall.htm

Managing the firewall

The SecureAnywhere firewall monitors data traffic traveling out of your computer ports. It looks for untrusted processes that try to connect to the Internet and steal your personal information. It works with the Windows firewall, which monitors data traffic coming into your computer. With both the SecureAnywhere and Windows firewall turned on, your data has complete inbound and outbound protection.

You should not turn off either the Windows firewall or the SecureAnywhere firewall. If they are disabled, your system is open to many types of threats whenever you connect to the Internet or to a network. These firewalls can block malware, hacking attempts, and other online threats before they can cause damage to your system or compromise your security.

I remember long time ago, I had the Kaspersky, and they recommended to Turn off the Windows Firewall.

Thank you very much.

Because KIS has a full Firewall and WSA has only a smart Outbound Firewall to block Malware from calling out to it's control center so with Windows Firewall you have full Inbound and Outbound Protection!

HTH,

Daniel 😉
I had the Kaspersky, long time ago, and I did not like it. I am very happy with Webroot.

so why with Kaspersky it had the full firewall, But Webroot dose not ?

Also, Is Baldrick around, Its been such a Long time not talking to him

Thanks
What's the issue with WSA? It has a great Firewall and Windows firewall is great as well so I don't see the problem? Also I assume your behind a Firewall Router so you are quite safe.

You have all this working for you in the background!

Thanks,

Hi venus60

Yes, I am still here...only perhaps a little less active then previously...for personal reasons (and a long story).

Yes, the whole thing is a little confusing...this thing about some security apps having there own FULL Firewall (as Daniel, has rightly pointed out) and other making use of either some or all of the inbuilt WIndows Firewall functionality.

I think that is because over the years the built in Windows Firewall, which of old was not very good, has steadily gotten better and better until these days it is a very well regard app in its own right and it has the advantage of being built into WIndows so you have nothing to add is you use this. Webroot have cleverly recognised this, reviewed what it can do and decided that they have no need to cover inbound connections and can leave that to the built in Firewall, but have decided to harden & make 'cleverer' the outbound element of the built in Firewall...so you get the best of both worlds; Webroot additional protection and the low overhead of using an in built fucntion.

Most excellent in my view. :D And I have to say that more and more securioty apps are starting to go that way.

Hope to see you around some.

Regards, Baldrick
Thnak you very much
