Yahoo mail will time out frequently with the security shields active. If I turn them off, it works fine. Is there a way I can exlude Yahoo, or parts of it?

Hello there chardin61, welcome to the Webroot Community!
I am also a Yahoo mail user, and I have not noticed this problem. Do you have issues with any other web sites or is it only yahoo?
I am not sure if there is a way do accomplish what you are seeking.@ Is there a way to essentially whitelist a URL when the site has not generated a block warning?

Hi David
I have an idea...we could try adding the specific url to the local whitelist manually. I would try this by navigating to this path;
C:ProgramDataWRData
EDIT: the above folders are hidden folders so the best way to access them is to paste the above into the Search option in the Start Menu
and the edit/open the following file 'wrUrl' with a text editor, and add the required url, then save the file, close down protection (via the right click of the notification tray, etc.) and then restart protection...and hopefully...voila.
I have not tried this but I think that it is worth a try, and I think that it should work.
EDIT: I have now tried it and it seems to work (see later post)

Baldrick,
Not easily. Every time I try to edit the file I get an access denied when trying to save the file.
I believe the may be a way to edit it, but someone else I was talking to a couple weeks ago tried it somehow, and the lines he added were ignored by the Filter extension.

Hi David
Well, I do n't know if there is something strange with my system but it is showing as a .txt file, so perhaps one needs to open it with Notepad or the like which has itself been opened with elevated privileges, i.e, run as adminstrator and then navigate to the file in question?
Alternatively, perhaps WSA itself is locking it so in that case the close down of protection should be done before editing the file, etc.? Again, just a thought. ;)
Anyway, have just tried this with a site the url for which I get the block when the whitelist does not include it. I then follow my approach and having entered the url, including www., and I then try it again I find that I can access the site. So looks to me like this will work although it is a far from elagant solution.
Hope that helps?

Thank you! As I have always tried to edit in Notepad while logged in as an Admin permission account, I had not thought of specifically running as admin.
Your approach looks elegant enough to me!
No problem, David...it is called Teamwork...;)
But apologies for Chardin61 for sort of taking over his/her thread/question...hopefully what we have discussed will provide you with a solution to the issue?
If you decide to try it and find that you have to close down protection before editing the whitelist text file, please remember to disconnect yourself physically from the internet whilst you are doing so, so that you do not leave yourself unprotected...the risk is very slight indeed...but then Sod's Law says...:(
Do know if our ramblings are of any assistance, etc.

Which Yahoo mail are you using? US as I'm in Canada and have no issues at all with IE, FF and Chrome. So more info would be needed. Even post the link you use to get there!@ wrote:
