It MSO/Excel really necessary to pull reports?

I have not tried the Universal Reporter yet and I am wondering if there is a way to avoid

having to bother with MSO/Excel. Can the data pulled via PowerShell direclty so I can parse it with something else?

In short, the answer is yes for MSO/Excel being required to run Universal Reporter.

You can use PowerShell scripts that utilise the Unity API calls to create your own custom reports.

Universal Reporter leverages the same calls under the hood.
