"Open the iPhone door, Siri!" - Apple's digital helper coughs up another lock screen hole

Ironically, he got in by asking Siri, Apple's voice-activated "helper." In a video posted to [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cHZBk-eKps]YouTube[/url], hacker Sherif Hashim demonstrated tricking Siri into opening the contact list without entering the passcode. This latest lock screen loophole means that anyone who gets their hands on your iPhone 5 could exploit this bug to make calls, send texts or send emails to anyone in your address book, and see everyone in your contact list. In the YouTube video, the hacker tells Siri to open "Contacts" from a locked iPhone 5s. ICO details eight security failings that cost firms thousands

You can send commands "much like chatting with a friend" to the Smart Refrigerator, Washing Machine and Lightwave Oven using the LINE messaging app and LG's WiFi-based HomeChat system. For example, text "what are you doing?" to the washing machine, and you'll get a real-time response on its progress (hopefully not "I'm flooding the basement"). The Smart Oven will provide recipe recommendations and set the temperature and cooking time for your chosen dish. Finally, the Smart Refrigerator's built-in wide-angle camera will track your food habits and generate shopping lists automatically, to name a few examples. Windows Vista and 7 are more vulnerable to infections than Windows XP, according to Microsoft report

According to the latest Security Intelligence Report (SIR) from Microsoft, Windows XP, which has lately been the focus of security concerns following the [url=http://www.itproportal.com/2014/04/08/how-risky-will-it-be-to-keep-running-windows-xp-now-support-has-ended/]cessation of support for the OS[/url], is actually more secure than some newer versions of Redmond's desktop operating system.   The SIR analyses the whole threat landscape of exploits and malware taking data from some 600 million computers across the globe, drawn from the second half of last year (when admittedly Windows XP was still supported by Microsoft). And the most vulnerable operating system? In Q4 of 2013, that was Windows Vista (SP2) which hit an infection rate of 32.4 per thousand computers (or 3.24 per cent). The Hacker Who Worked on a Navy Nuclear Aircraft Carrier

Nicholas Knight and his hacker crew, Digi7al, were a lot like other hacking crews. According to [url=http://cdn.theatlantic.com/newsroom/img/posts/050514_Knight.pdf]a Federal indictment filed this week[/url], they broke into computers, took information, posted it, and boasted about their exploits.   But there is a key difference: Nicholas Knight was employed by the Navy on the nuclear aircraft carrier [i]USS Harry S. Truman[/i]. He called himself a "nuclear black hat," black hat being a common term for a broad array of malicious hackers (think [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_club]outlaw motorcycle clubs[/url]) . Knight was working as sysadmin supporting the ship's nuclear reactor. WooThemes hacked. Premium WordPress theme manufacturer warns of credit card leak
