About a month and a half ago I purchased a 1 year subscription for Prevx anti-malware software. This was installed along Trend Micro Titanium Security and Malwarebytes Anti-malware Pro. This computer is only used for finances and nothing else (I keep it updated and locked down pretty good). So let's just say I freaked out when I noticed some unknown software running on my laptop. Lately I also noticed a little bit of slowdown during boot but didn't think much of it. Until this morning that is. I noticed a popup saying something about Webroot SecureAnywhere software running a scan. Webroot? I never purchased or installed your software. It appears Prevx was owned by Webroot and was recently integrated into Webroot software. That's all fine I don't care. Good for you I guess. Do you guys have any idea how people react to some unknown software they never installed? The only people who do these creepy stealth installs are people writing malware hoping you'll stumble upon an infected
Hey guys, Just an updade on install of upgrade... I followed the suggestion of just adding the serial number and it worked great on my laptop... However when I went to manage my account on line I only saw "Mom's PC" and not "USERPC" as I did before. So I went to the desktop.. tried to update the new serial there the same way and it imediately rebooted the system. Booted back up and tried again, was given a message saying that Webroot could not access the internet even though my browser was connecting. I then went to control panel - add remove programs and when trying to uninstall it sent me to a page asking me to leave a note explaining why I wanted to uninstall the program so I did. Then gave me a message saying that "Webroot could not be un-installed because it may not have been installed in the fist place"... wierd huh??? ok... so I rebooted and inserted the purchased cd and ran setup. Hello again everyone, I'm sure by now you all are wishing I would shut up :o I just purchased a full version of your WR Antivirus 2013 and got a great price of $20.00 for 3 devices by the way :) My question is this... If I have installed the 14 day free trial about 3 days ago, should I un-install that free trial before installing the purchased version or will it just over write the trial software? Any tips or tricks you might know of would be appreciated. I know this sounds like a dumb question but you guys are so efficient with these blogs I would be an idiot not to ask first. Thanks in advance for the suggestions and I will check my responses after I return from walking the dogs at the park today 100 degrees here at 7pm 😠
I was wondering what will happen to the quarantined viruses when Webroot is uninstalled. Are they still inactive or are they actually released back onto the system?
I recently took my laptop in for it's yearly healthcheck, would anyone know why the report I got back shows that it did not detect any AntiVirus on the system although Webroot shows it is Active and I am protected? Have I failed to do something apart from entering the new keycode? Linda
OK I need to wipe and reinstall my operating system to fix an issue and the webroot that I have the code is good for 3 activations and two have already been used, when I reinstall webroot will that activation use up my third one? is there a way to prevent that because I need to save it for a third computer im getting
I get tired of all the "malicious site" warnings this software pops up with for legit sites. Recently I'm not able to access Google because SecureAnywhere is saying Google is a malicious site.
What are the reasons that influenced you the most to make you choose Webroot considering how many Cyber Security Products there are to choose from these days? Also do you like using WSA by itself, or do you like using it with other Security Products? If you are using WSA with other Security Products then which products do you prefer to use with WSA to make up your Layered Security Setup? Also, how long have you been using Prevx / WSA?
Hi I am a newbie here and I have a question; when I try too login to a site and I want webroot too autofill and it ask for password it want do it cause it says wrong email. Please help. P.S. I am using Webroot anywhere.
There's talk at Wilder's Security Forum of a new Ransomeware which is spreading by P2P networks. This Ransomeware is able to flash your bios, but it is not known at this time the changes it is making to the bios. One user which has already fallen victim to this malware says replacing your hard drive will not remove the threat. Zfactor at Wilders is trying to obatain a sample which compromised a friends computer. The victim says he has scanned his computer with norton, eset, avira, avast, dr web, bitdefender, webroot, gdata, fsecure, panda, avg, emsisoft, vipre, mcafee, comodo, ikarus, kaspersky, trend, fortinet among others , and none of them have detected the threat. The victim of this threat says he still has not been able to remove the threat even after replacing the hard drive. He says he is going to replace the memory next which I myself do not think will help from the sound of it. The Ransomewear has him locked out of the bios. I think as we find out
I was thinking about trying WSA on my Laptop again. The last time my Laptop would not boot anymore. It would freeze right after Windows login. Since my Laptop may not boot anymore I was wondering if WSA Logs utility will run in safe mode. Safe mode disables Windows installer so I was thinking it probably wouldn't, but maybe some portable application would run. So, will WSA Utility run in Safe Mode?
Go mornig, I haven't been here in a while but I have an issue. My wife's laptop took a dump the other day so we purchused a used one because she only surfs the net and plays bingo. I installed webroot on the computer and everything is fine except that everytime it boots it puts a new icon on the desktop. Is there any way I can stop this from happening? Thanks alot.
