So, the 5 billionth search scam popped up on my phone. This is fine, I just closed out of it, as I did when I had gotten it on my computer before. There was a difference, however. On the computer, I had clicked a website that redirected me there. On my phone, I was looking up the meaning of a word, and without clicking anything, was suddenly redirected there. How did that happen?

Hello @AsheTheOdd

Not sure about the phone and I assume your using Android and they have allot of ads? PC or Mac and what OS and Browser do you use?

Here is some info and it’s been going on for a few years: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-youve-made-the-5-billionth-search-ad

For your Browsers you should install free Ad Pop Up Blocker such as uBlock Origin.

Here for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=search

Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm

Microsoft Edge: uBlock Origin - Microsoft Edge Addons

If that doesn’t help then Contact Webroot Support and they will help you sort it out and please don’t use other Anti-Malware tools as Webroot likes to help there own users.
