Requested restart from unknown/unreqeusted application (update)

An icon appeared in my task bar, which requests a restart of my computer to install an update….the update was not requested by me, and is from “RealTek”.  I don’t know what to do?  If I don’t install it (by restarting my computer), how do I get rid of it?  Is it dangerous?

Hey there @JeanneA ,

RealTek the provider of your audio drivers. It’s what allows your computer to run sound files/etc.

You’re likely fine. Do a virus scan to be sure but RealTek is a legit company and keeping those drivers up-to-date is relatively important.
