Identity and access management provider Okta on Tuesday said it concluded its probe into the breach of a third-party vendor in late January 2022 by the LAPSUS$ extortionist gang and that it was far more limited in scope.
Stating that the "impact of the incident was significantly less than the maximum potential impact" the company had previously shared last month, Okta said the intrusion impacted only two customer tenants, down from 366 as was initially assumed.
+6Okta must be feeling good about this report. Not often you get a report that find the impact of a cybersecurity event is LESS than initially thought.
+5True, but a breach is a breach. Hopefully they’ll see this as a close shave and getting off lightly and analyse everything they can do to tighten the hatches.

Agreed. Encouraging that they caught it in less than 30 minutes and were able to limit the impact as much as they did.
Security is Okta’s bread and butter, so I’m sure this was a wake-up call!
