How can I uninstall my previous version if I can't find it in my control panel?

Hi. I previously posted a few days ago that I had "purchased" Webroot endpoint version from Fastfix 123 and never got my keycode. Your company was kind enough to send me email for a free year subscription and download instructions. I also received instructions on how to uninstall my "older" version by locating it in the Control Panel. I don't have Webroot listed in the control panel. Next I thought I would try to activate my new version by entering my new keycode provided the your technicians. I received this error message:

---------------------------
Webroot SecureAnywhere
---------------------------
SecureAnywhere is currently managed by the Web Console and all changes need to be applied centrally. Please refer to the SecureAnywhere documentation for further information.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I don't know what to do now. I tried to get in touch with the person who replied to my original post a few days ago because they told me they would call me to assist by remote access. I have sent two or three messages and I haven't gotten a response.

I am hoping someone can help me.

Pamela

Hello Pamela.

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

I believe @ was working with you from your previous post and told you to Contact Support if I'm not mistaken. I can try to guide you. Ok?

In some cases, uninstall options for SecureAnywhere may be missing from the Control Panel or Start menu.  If you want to uninstall SecureAnywhere and are unable to do so because of these missing options, here are some steps you can try:

Option 1: Ensure correct display settings
 1. Open Webroot SecureAnywhere.
 2. Click Settings, then choose Basic Configuration.
 3. Un-check the boxes next to Show Webroot in the Start Menu and Show Webroot in Add/Remove Programs.
 4. Click Save All. After saving your settings, repeat steps 1 and 2, then re-check the boxes next to Show Webroot in the Start Menu and Show Webroot in Add/Remove Programs.  Then click Save All again.
 5. Once you have re-checked the correct options, try uninstalling Webroot from the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs option, or from Start > All Programs > Webroot SecureAnywhere > Tools > Uninstall Webroot.
Option 2: If the method above does not work, you can run an uninstall command manually.  Choose the correct instructions for your operating system.

For Windows XP:
 1. Click Start, then click Run. The Run box opens.
 2. Type the following into the Run box, exactly as it appears below.  Note: This path is for the default location.  If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
 3. Click OK.
 4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32bit):
 1. Open the Start menu by clicking the Start icon .
 2. Type the following into the Start Search bar, exactly as it appears below.  Note: This path is for the default location. If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
 3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
 4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 (64bit):
 1. Open the Start menu by clicking the Start icon .
 2. Type the following into the Start Search bar, exactly as it appears below.  Note: This path is for the default location. If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program Files (x86)WebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
 3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
 4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
For Windows 8:
 1. Move your cursor to the bottom right of the screen to open the Charm Bar menu.
 2. Click Search, then type the following into the Start Search bar, exactly as it appears below. Note: This path is for the default location. If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
 3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
 4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
After following these steps then you should be able to reinstall Webroot. Here is information below:

Please follow the steps closely!

Hi prusty44

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If I may add to what Sherry has posted...if forced to use the:

     "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall

please note that this needs to be run with Administrator privileges for it to be successful.  To do this you should called up a command prompt (enter 'cmd'...without apostrophes...in the Strart Menu search field) and then right click on the 'cmd' option listed in return.  From the context menu displayed select 'Run as administrator' which should open a command prompt into which you can type/paste the commandline above.

Hope that helps?

Regards, Baldrick

HI Baldrick,

Thank you for your added input. I tried doing what both you and Sherry suggested (thanks for the added cmd step), however it is apparent that Fastfix 123 hid the program deep within my hard drive and it must be under a "code" name. I even tried searching for any .exe programs and can't find anything that I can identify with my limited knowledge of computer programming.

I will have to call the tech support. It's too bad they are only open during day hours, but I'll get this worked out. I'll probably need an experienced IT tech to "search". I'm actually hoping Microsoft can help me since my computer is only 6 months old.

Thank you again,

Pamela

Hi Pamela

The telephone support lines are only open during the week.  You best best is, as Sherry suggested, to submit a Support Ticket, which is staffed 24/7 and hopefully the Support Team will get back to you in a reasonable timescales (even if it is the weekend) and then look into this for you.

Regards, Baldrick

Hi Sherry,

Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately Fastfix 123 hid the program so I can't locate it. :)

I'll do as you suggested and submit a ticket.

Pamela
