Toshiba Support told me Webroot & Windows 10 were NOT compatible. I still have over 6 mo pd Webroot?

I've spent 4-6 hrs with Toshiba Support this past week trying to get my Toshiba Laptop P55t-A5202 connect to the internet following installation of Windows 10. Toshiba Support told me Webroot was the issue, that is is not compatical. Help please. I still have over 6 month of subscription left with Webroot. I'm afrait to download the 9.0 upgrade for Webroote out of fear it will continue to happen.

Suggestions?

Thx,
Sue

Hi skekrs56

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you are not running WSA v9 (the latest is in fact v9.0.1.35) then Toshiba Support are correct; anything other than v9 will not be compatible with Win10.

Having said this I am surprised that you have not received the updates to v9 as these are usually pushed to users  silently so do make sure as to what version you are currently on.

In terms of "I'm afrait to download the 9.0 upgrade for Webroote out of fear it will continue to happen." I would recommend that you do check for updates manually and allow the v9 update to be installed. It all works fine and also provides you with the highest level of security available from WSA.

Let us know what you decide to do going forward.

Regards, Baldrick

Hi Sue,

I'm sorry for the problems you had but at least it validates the same problem I had. I bought a Toshiba Satellite Radius and right out of the box installed Webroot as well Microsoft Office and my backup software. After doing a restart I received a message prior to seeing the desktop that Windows had an issue starting up and it offered to attempt a automatic repair to fix the problem. Unfortunately that didn't work so I reset the computer back to factory settings and tried to reinstall again. Exact same issue so I figured the issue was specific to that computer so I brought it back to Best Buy and got an identical model. Unfortunately the same issue occured. So I brought that computer back and got essentially the same computer but the i5 version. Stupid me, I installed Webroot but this time it was the ONLY thing I did. I shut downt the computer and when I restarted I got the exact same thing. UGH! So I restored the computer and this time did NOT install Webroot and everything has worked perfectly since. This process took literally 3 days before I got back up and working. It's too bad because I've been a registered user of Webroot for maybe two years. But it would take wild horses at this point for me to go back. I saw that someone from Webroot replied to this thread saying that the issue has been resolved with WSA v9.0.1.35. I would love nothing more than to use Webroot but I just can't chance another failed install.

Can someone from Webroot please reply to this message and I suppose just reassure me that it is safe to go back.

Thanks,

Rick Tibbitts

Hello Sue and Rick,

I am not a Webroot Employee but I can point you to the right place.  I do know that Webroot Support has heard of isolated issues with some specific brand/models with Windows 10, and they are working on the problem.  Please, both of you, Submit A Trouble Ticket to have Webroot Support contact you.

Do not submit your ticket more than once or reply to it until you have heard from Support.  Doing so will make the Ticket System think you have a new issue and will push your ticket to the back of the line.

I believe that the recent version mentioned by Rick may have fixed the issue, but if you wish to make sure first please submit the trouble ticket: Support does work 24/7, including on weekends.

Rick, I am sorry I cannot give you that assurance you desire regarding a hard promise that there is no chance of an issue.

I also just had this problem with a new Toshiba Satellite C55. I actually sent the computer back to Amazon & they are sending a new one. Now I see that Webroot is the problem since others are having the same issue. The computer would not restart after I installed Webroot.  This is very disappointing since I also have 5mo. left on my Webroot subscription. I don't think I want to go through the time sink again trying to install Webroot & then having to reload Windows 10 when the computer won't restart. I'll probably just settle for using the pre-installed McAfee software instead. Boo! Webroot you are going to lose customers over this! I've been very happy with the product until now.

Note that I downloaded Webroot directly from their site, so I assume it is the most current version.

This is also a problem because I was going to update my Windows 7 machine to 10 in order to transfer my data to the new computer, but now I don't know if I want to do that since I'll have to remove my virus protection.
