Firefox changed and now Webroot password icon is gone.

Firefox changed and my Webroot icon to sign into Password Manager has disappeared.  I have done everything I know.  I have reinstalled Webroot, enabled Password mgr icon on Firefox etc.  Nothing seems to help.

Hello to you both, welcome to the Community!

Firefox has been doing some changes to how they handle add-ons.  I know that the Webroot Filter Extension was affected a few days ago (Webroot is aware of this and working with Firefox on it), and it appears that the Password Manager became affected for the first time today.  Please submite a Trouble Ticket for Webroot Support so that they can start working on the Password Manager with Mozilla ASAP.

Until the Password Manager is working in Firefox again, you can also use Google Chrome as your browser.  The Password Manager is still working there just fine.  It is also working with IE.

I checked with the folks here and they're aware of the issue and working on getting it resolved.

The workaround is a full uninstall and reinstall of Webroot, unfortunately.  The toolbar fix alone won't do the trick.

Clean re-install directions:

Please follow the steps closely!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Please let us know if that resolves your issue?

The answer is NO, it does not work. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled... still the same in Firefox 40 (the Webroot icon just takes me to the Webroot login page, right clicking doesn't work properly). I don't WANT to use ANOTHER browser! PLEASE resolve this properly!

Hello rsngfrce,

As we have said, Webroot is aware of the issue, and they are working with Firefox to resolve it.  If you would like, you may contact Webroot Support directly regarding this by Submitting a Trouble Ticket.

Do you really have to use FIREFOX or you can get by using internet explorer. I spoke to my friend who is a computer technician and he told me there is some "stuff" you can't do with FIREFOX versus Internet explorer. I switched to internet explorer and very seldom use FIREFOX now. Hope that helps.

No offense, but your 'friend' isn't much of a friend... Internet Explorer is well known to be full of security problems.

Hi rsngfrce

Well, I am not sure that you are quite correct re. that statement...but it is a moot point and the subject of much debate.

In my opinion and from what I have read, Yes, IE of old was indeed pretty dire in terms of not only security but also performance but having said that there has been steady improvement and certainly IE 11 is pretty much top notch in terms of both...OK, may not be as secure as say Chrome but there is not much in it.

Anyway, it does depend on whom you speak to and what one reads on the subject.

Regards, Baldrick

Baldrick, you may well be correct, you probably know better than me, though I do note that shorTcircuiT recommended using Chrome in place of Firefox and did not mention IE, but anyway.

For anyone interested in THIS issue, I contacted support as I was advised, they had me download a tool to uninstall and reinstall the Webroot Toolbar, which they implied would fix this issue... it did not. It was exactly the same afterwards, so I await their next response...

UPDATE: Tech support has now had me uninstall and reinstall Webroot SecureAnywhere (with the additional step of deleting the WRData folder, if it existed, which it did not), which they said it did not, which they said would correct the issue. Of course, it made NO DIFFERENCE. I am personally at a loss as to how anyone has been able to correct this issue. In my admittedly limited understanding, Firefox has made a change to how their extensions work and Webroot must work with Firefox to resolve how to get the Password Manager extensions working again and seems to have been mentioned multiple times... so how can running the Toolbarfix or uninstalling/reinstalling Webroot SecureAnywhere POSSIBLY fix this issue?

This is NOT a MINOR issue! When I start using the Password Manager to remember my passwords, I rely on it to do so in place of other methods I would otherwise use and not having the use of it is a MAJOR inconvienience!

UPDATE: FINALLY... tech support has provided me with a fix for this issue that works! They had me download a file and manually install it to the add ons, which resulted in me having Password Manager 2.5.0 instead of the LastPass version and this is now working. If anyone is having this issue, contact tech support and hopefully they will KNOW to provide this fix to you now!
