Won't open in tablet mode

I installed Webroot on my Windows 10 tablet. It won't open in tablet mode. When I switch to desktop mode it opens and runs fine. Am I protected in tablet mode if I can't open it that way and there is nothing in the taskbar showing its running?

Hi djm007

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes, as far as I know you are protected by WSA whether you are running in Tablet Mode or Full WIndows Mode (Desktop).

The protection is not dependant on which mode you are in as that is just how the OS is presented to the user...WSA protects the OS and the contents of the disk(s).

I am surprised that you cannot open in Tablet Mode...are you sure that under Settings > Systems > Tablet Mode you do not have the 'Make Windows more friendly in...' setting switched 'Off'?  If so then try switching it 'On'.

Alternatively, if you want to do it the short, quick way, there should be a toggle by default in the Action Center in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop. Just click it on or off when you want to go into and out of tablet mode.

Thanks
I do have more touch friendly in tablet mde on but it still won't open. When I touch the icon on the tablet mode screen all icons disappear and nothing else happens.  When I touchscreen again all the icons reappear.  I can run it ok when I actually switch to desktop mode.

Which icon is that? You are not meaning this one in the bottom lefthand corner of the Task Bar are you?

because if that is the one then you are confusing the Task View icon with Tablet Mode. Again, trying to keep things simple/checking on the basics first.

hi djm007

OK, well I have tried to replicate what you have advised regarding trying to run/launch WSA when in tablet mode and here is what I haver found.

If I switch my tablet into Tablet Mode I get the Start Menu taking up the whole screen and all the icons that where previously showing in Desktop Mode do disappear. If I then click on the WSA icon that I have in the Start Menu (now displayed across the whole screen) it launches WSA just like in Desktop Mode, and in fact the background is in fact the Desktop but without any of the icons I normally have on it.

I can then use WSA as per usual, i.e., go through the various tabs, run  a scan, etc., and then if I close WSA (click 'x' in top right hand corner) it disappears and just leave me with a blank Desktop and at that point I have to click on the Start Menu icon to get my Tablet Mode display showing again (but with the Desktop wallpaper showing in background.

As far as I know there is no Tablet Mode version of WSA so when you run it in Tablet Mode what I have described above is normal behaviour.

I hope that helps?
