Updates

How to do a manual update?  System Analyzer, Threats section says anti-virus is installed.  But Software section says updates are available but not installed.  On my old second laptop it says neither are installed.  The logo is up there on the toolbar.  Keycodes are correct.

What happens when you right-click on the webroot logo in the system tray ( where you see the time & so ).. Do you see a little menu with an option check for updates?? If so click on it. When there's something there you can d/l & install it like that

Hi Clover1

Welcome to the Community Forums.

What "Software section" says that updates are available...would you be more specific. As Edwin has stated you can right click on the Notificaiton tray WSA icon & click on 'Scan Now' to initiate an immediate scan (you can also open the mani app panel and click on 'Scan my Computer' to do the same) and yo can also click on 'Check for UPdates' to check for an make sure that you copy of WSA is at the latest level of software.

Thanks, I didn't think of looking in there as I had the logo on the toolbar too.  Unfortunately when I right-clicked and then clicked on the check for updates it said an internet connection is required.  That's funny, I checked and I am connected - I am getting through to you after all.  Tried again.  Is this something funny because I have a Verizon LTE phonecard instead of cable?

It should work as long as there's an internet connection. Modest question perhaps.. Are you on wireless now or cable... Are you by any chance working on the cable and left the wifi switched on??? You could get dodgy download & upload response when you do that..... if so disable the wifi , reboot & then try again.

It is not w-fi, it is a phonecard with an area code.  I have never used wi-fi.  I did go in the notification tray and right-clicked to update the Verizon and that worked.  So I got something to update from there.  I also right clicked to scan with Webroot and that worked.  I just can't right-click to the Webroot updates without an dialog box stating I need an active internet connection.  Is there a work-around to get the updates another way?
Thanks for your help, sorry but I am trying.

I think that you had best Open a Support Ticket and get the Support Team to look into this for you as I have never heard of the way that you connect and it may be that it is not compatible withthe way that WSA works.

Okay, I shut it down and turned the laptop back on.  Then I got a new dialog box saying:
"You are currently using the newest SecureAnywher softwar...SecureAnywhere automatically updates the software and no longer downloads threat definitions.  Threat protection is now performed'in the cloud' and is always up to date."
That is somewhat reassuring.  But when I went back to the SecureAnywhere main page and the Utilities section the System Analyzer still says (under theSoftware section) "Updates are available for your system and have not been installed"  and I am given a System Analyzer score of 84/100 instead of 100/100 because of that section only.
Thought you would like that clarification.  Does this mean I don't have to update, I'm not 100% sure?

Hi ?

I don't think the software that appears to need updating is Webroot. Perhaps it is referring to Windows updates, Java, Flash, etc.???

Just a thought. :)

Hi Clover1

The message that you are referring to is most definitively associated with the status of your Windows/Microsoft (depending on how you have configured your Updater) updates. I would use WIndows Search (if using Win 10) or the Search box from the Start Menu (if using other than Windows 10), typiing in 'Windows Updates' (without the quote marks, and then click on the Windows Update icon that should appear as a result of the search.

Once in Windows Update just run a check to see if you ahve any undownloaded/installed updates and if so then decide if you want to have them installed or not.
