Hi daldrow

Welcome to the Community Forums.

There have been some reports in relation to this but they have been minimal and most WSA users have experienced a good upgrade. Having said that it is true that if Windows 10 does not detect another AV./IS such as WSA installed it will switch on WIndows Defender, and sometimes even with WSA installed Windows Defender is still activated/WSA not recognised by the Action Centre as being enabled.

The solution to that is to uninstall WSA and then carry out a clean reinstall (instructions for this can be provided if you require them.

Finally you may find this KB Article of interest re. Windows 10:

Hi daldrow

OK, no worries. to do an unistall/clean install of WSA please follow these instructions carefully at the apporpirtae time:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and do NOT import any settings if offered by the installer; you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Check to see if Windows Defender is disabled and that WSA is recognised in the Action Centre.

Uninstalling & reinstalling has absolutely NO effect on your subscription terms or contract...I uninstall & reinstall regularly for a number of reasons, including assisting othger users, etc.

In terms of knowing if WSA is active; check for the notification tray icon being present & Green or open up the main WSA panel and that should be sghaded Green, and you should be seeing a large 'tick' upper centre of the panel with the word 'Protected' displying to the left of that.

Hope thatis of assistance?

Regards, Baldrick
