Upgrade to Windows 10 has brought many rootkit detections

I upgraded to Windows 10 on my HP desktop computer on December 22nd and since then I've been informed by WSA Anti-Virus that my computer is infected with 10-13 rootkits just about every other day. WSA removes the threats, but rootkits reappear a few days later. I downgraded back to Windows 7 for a few days and there was no rootkit detection. I upgraded again to Windows 10 and the rootkit infections have continued.

Is this a known issue with Windows 10? Are these really rootkit infections, or false positives? I would like to see what the community thinks about this to help me decide if I am going to keep Windows 10 or not.

I'd like to know what are these? How do I permanently stop this from happening? Should I change my WSA settings? Is this a Windows 10 security issue and I need to go back to Windows 7 permanently?

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this.

Hi TampaBayBC

Happy New Year...and welcome to the Community Forums.

I have to say that I have not heard of this occuring as yet and for that reason I would normally advise that you try an uninstall/clean reinstall of WSA. But given that you have gone from Win 7 to Win 10 and then back again and am assuming that you have at some point uninstalled/reinstalled WSA then it may be a pointless exercise.

But if not then please advise back as to whether you would like to try this and we can provide you with instructions on how to proceed.

Failing that the only other thing that I can suggest is that you Open a Support Ticket and let the SupportTeam take a look for you as this is not normally behaviour...the service is free of charge to WSA users with an active subscription.

Regards, Baldrick
