I'm clicking on the icon in the taskbar, but the program window will not open.  I go to task manager, and it shows webroot, as program, is doing something.  But stil the program will not open.

Hello,

With issues like this it's best to do a clean reinstall of WSA as it only takes a few minutes!

Please follow the steps closely!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Please let us know if that resolves your issue?

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

Hi cal-wheel,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Have you rebooted your PC and see if it'll open after the restart.

Let us know ok?

It worked for a few minutes.  The window was open, scan in progress.
Then my Action Center (windows 😎 poppled up saying my virus protection was off.  It showed Webroot and Windows Defender, and gave me the option of turning both on.  I selected Webroot, and hit [turn on], but nothing happened.  In that Action Center box, it was still marked "off".
Then the security box popped up saying if I wanted to allow Webroot to make changes to my computer.  I selected yes both times.
Then another little box popped up saying there was a problem running Webroot, and Windows was going to close it.  There was no other option but to allow it.
I looked at the Windows Defender option in the Action Center and selected to turn it on, but it showed an alert saying its definitions were out of date, select OK to update.  It looked like Defender had never scanned my computer, so I just closed that box.  So I thought Defender was going to stay off.
Then as I'm typing this message, the Action Center says Defender is running.  In the Antivirus programs it's turned on.  Webroot is listed, but it's still marked "off", and I don't even have the option of turning it on.
Is Windows and Webroot just not getting along?
Thanks.

I'm adding this edit a few minutes later:  My Webroot was still running (clicked on icon in taskbar).  The window came up, scan in progress, all my settings the same.  Scan finished.  No threats found.  My Realtime Shield, Web Shield, and Firewall are all turned on.
But in the Action Center, it still says Webroot is turned off.  I click on it, and it doesn't give me any option to turn it on.  Meanwhile, Defender is turned on, and it's not giving me any option to turn it off.  Defender is listed in the Action Center and asking for permission to scan my computer.
