Welcome to the Community Forums.
There could be a number of reasons as to why one loses an internet connection, but what you can try is the next time you do check your router and make a note of the lights that are on & what colours they are (will be useful if you have to contact your ISP for help).
The switch off you router; can unplug it physically or just flip the on/off switch if it has one. Wait for 5 minutes and then switch it back on and let it go through the connection cycle again.
Monitor the issue...hopefully the power down/power up will sort you out but if not then I would suggest that you check out the manual for the device and look as to how you reset it to factory settings, as the next thing to try.
