Why do security choices clear after a reboot?

Hello
Windows firewall controls inbound connections and WSA controls outbound connections.
They needs to be run together.
Which OS do you use?

Sorry to here about your issue and that as a result you are considering leaving the WSA fold. :(
 
If I may add...firstly, un der what OS are you running, as that may be important?  And, secondly, is this the only thing that yout are seeing as resetting or not sticking in terms of rules or settings that you personally have explicitly set?
 
Finally, have you actually raised this with the Support Team by Opening a Support Ticket, so that they can investigate the issue for you, and if so then please advise as to what they came back with/advised.
 
It would be useful to know.

The OS is Windows 7 x64 and is a 24/7 headless machine that I RDP into. I do use the Windows firewall and WR firewall together. I'll try and give a specific example of what happens.
 
On the server I have an app called Plex installed that I use to hold my media files so that I can stream them to my android phone, wife's iPad, etc. When one of those devices tries to play a piece of media that it can't natively play, Plex invokes a transcoder exe to convert the files to a friendly file format before the stream initiates.
 
Using the above as setup, if I try and play a file from the iPad after a fresh reboot, I will receive a popup saying that the Plex transcoder is trying to communicate out. I don't specifically remember the name of the buttons on the popup, but click the one that says something like "Always Allow." Now, if any device tries and must use the transcoder app, it will work fine.
 
However, after a reboot, the first time any device makes a stream request that has to use the transcoder, I will see the popup again and make the same choice, again. At this point all devices will work fine...until the next reboot. 🙂 Rise repeat.
 
Hopefully this is a clear enough example of what I was trying to communicate with the original post. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have not yet raised a ticket, because surely this is something wrong that I am doing. Lastly, yes, everything else like system settings that I make, do persist through reboots. It just seems to affect firewall type of choices that are made.

I may be way off here but would you please log into your Web Console (access here) and once you have gone through all the logon & password checks, etc. click on the 'Go to PC Security' button that yo should see in the Console screen. Then click on the icon for the PC that you are having the issue with...and you should see something similar to the screenshot below:
 

 
1. Go to the Security Setting option.
2. Check whether it says 'User Configuration, and if not if you have the (Edit) option adjacent to it.
3. Whether you have the Commands option at the top of the window.
 
If the answer to 2. is that you have something other than 'User Configuration' then that could be where you issue lies.
 
As I said this is a loongshot and so I will not bore you with loads of information on how to adjust the Security Setting to this, unless you need that.
 
So please post back as to what you are seeing in relation to your confguration and we can take it from there.
