I'd like to download a simple file finding program from CNET downloads. They keep getting blocked.

I personally have found CNET downloads to be the opposite; however, I had no trouble downloading Duplicate-File-Finder ( http://download.cnet.com/Duplicate-File-Finder/3000-2248_4-10300084.html )
 
Could you possibly elaborate a bit more?

Sure thing. I am trying to find certain files in a pile of somewhat randomized recovered files. I find the basic file searching capabilities of Win 7 to be lacking in functionality, so I thought I would just download a free program from CNET, as I've done many times before when all I want is a simple, quick solution to a small need. I tried maybe half a dozen such programs, and WR throws up a flag each time, then deletes the offending file. It may well be that each of them actually IS infected with something annoying; it just seemed odd to me to have that much bad luck at once. I guess my question really is whether or not I should trust that WR is more likely to be just doing its job than it is to be just overcautious in this case.

Well, IMHO - and this is my personal point of view as a Webroot user - YES; I trust what WR tells me 99.9% of the time.  There are somerare  instances where the info may not be current; e.g. BrightCloud data not being up-to-date but, that is rarely the case.   So, if WR is saying something is wrong, then something is wrong.

CNET used to be great but now its full of PUA wrapped software. Your probably getting a detection for the PUA wrapper more than the program itself.
