The hack, which is the first of its kind, bypasses the iCloud security system for locked iOS devices called Activation Lock. By using the free DoulCi site, which appeared to be offline most of the day but is now back up, a locked iOS device can be tricked into thinking it’s talking to Apple’s iCloud servers when connected to a computer.

I wonder if this could bypass the stealing of iCloud credentials ransom lockout? Boy, would that be ironic if it could. Two bad guys, both looking for their own profit, counter act each other's efforts.

I was just thinking that as I read an article about the lockout epidemic spreading to the US.  It would be quite ironic indeed!

Speaking of that story @ is talking about...

http://news.yahoo.com/back-iphone-data-now-huge-ios-ransomware-scam-194129345.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory

Moral of the story is that the ransomware scam has now trickled it's way into U.S. users' iPhones and users are being urged to bring their phones into an Apple store if they've been hit. The key? Have everything backed up in iCloud as unlocking the phone will wipe all the data that's on the phone. Click the above link for the full story.
