By Cosmin Vasile    3 Jan 2015 The booter is famous for taking down PSN, Xbox Live

The group that hit PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on Christmas day, Lizard Squad seems to be the cause of another DDoS attack, but this time aimed at 4Chan.

In fact the tool provided by Lizard Squad, the so-called Lizard Stresser is now used to attack 4Chan, a well-known website where users post anonymously.

The Lizard Stresser that is now being used in the DDoS attack against 4Chan is the same tool that took down PlayStation Network and Xbox Live about a week ago.

There’s no telling who exactly is using it now because Lizard Squad made the tool commercially available, so anyone could execute these attacks for the right amount.

The Lizard Stresser offers individuals a way to take down IP addresses without having to know anything about hacking or DDoS attacks.

For the time being, the 4Chan website is inaccessible and will stay this way probably until the attack ends or the owners manage to protect themselves against this kind of attacks. Full Article. Update: After more than 5 hours of downtime, 4Chan is now back online. No word on what was the cause of the outage, but let's hope it wasn't a DDoS attack.

Someone should man up and look to take this lot down big time/once an for all...it is quite ridiculous that we are held to ransom...so to speak...by a bunch of attention seeking nobodies.

I could not agree more Baldrick. They even go to the level of holding interviews with the press, some get arrested (so we hear) but the attacks carry on. It is time they were brought down.
