Researchers at TrapX have observed several hospital attacks where malicious actors disguised their sophisticated tools as old pieces of malware in an effort to avoid detection.

Last year, the security firm published a report detailing medical device hijacking, or Medjack, attacks. Experts described several operations that went undetected for months after attackers leveraged medical devices found in the targeted hospital’s network as key pivot points.

Jasper thank you for sharing that article.  You know I'm very surprised that the Hospital's ITG Group weren't on top of this.  Why are people still using win XP!  Talk about being behind the 8 ball.  As the saying goes, it's not until something happens that someone does something about it.  Come on people what happened to being "proactive"  Furthermore, these low lifes going after medical devices in a Hospital, is very low.

The issues realy is that the security systems that the hospitals use should be able to deal with legacy threats but I believe that many of the anti malwaere vendors are 'retiring' legacy threats definitions because they are not expected to reappear...so here would be a case in point that flies in the face of that policy.
