Watchdog goes to court to open up black box system

Google's advertising systems that connect people's in-store purchases to their online browsing may face regulatory review – because the Chocolate Factory won't disclose details about how it slices and dices its data.
 
On Monday, privacy warriors at EPIC announced they have filed a complaint with America's Federal Trade Commission asking the agency to halt Google's Store Sales Measurement service.

Why is anyone surprised at this...I would have thought that it was a given, based on what we know about the past Janus-like behaviour from Google? Stands to reason that they would be doing this. :(

Gives me a warm feeling to know that I have not seen an advert on my PC for quite a few years. It never ceases to amaze me how so many people just accept that adverts are part and parcel of using your laptop, tablet or phone and either don't know, or don't care, about ad-blockers and other privacy aids.
