First, there was the unearthing of an EA Origin bug that could leave player PC's vulnerable to hijacking.

Now, the account breaching has fallen into Microsoft's lap. According to an ARS Technica report from earlier this morning, Microsoft officials are saying that attackers are currently fraudulently obtaining info to compromise high-profile Xbox Live belonging to former and current Microsoft employees. Here's an official statement from officials:

"We are aware that a group of attackers are using several stringed social engineering techniques to compromise the accounts of a handful of high-profile Xbox LIVE accounts held by current and former Microsoft employees. We are actively working with law enforcement and other affected companies to disable this current method of attack and prevent further use."

Just two days ago, security reporter Brian Krebs (who himself was a recent victim of a hacked 911 call that led to the SWAT raid of his home) linked a potential suspect in that case to a team of four people who steal credit card info and compromise Xbox live accounts.

As always, it's a great report from ARS Technica so if you get the chance, click the aforementioned link and read the whole article and keep an eye out for updates on this thread!
