So Elon Musk is buying Twitter, and you can be sure that scammers are making the most of this news.

As Elon Musk spends most of the week in the headlines, so pop up Elon Musk-themed scams—and it looks like they may be ramping up.

We witnessed a flurry of replies from the man himself in response to someone making a comment.

“Oh. Wait a minute….”

Sadly, it isn’t him but rather an army of bots, all bearing the same current profile picture of the Tesla CEO as his official Twitter account.

All of the URLs in their responses are shortened. No matter which one a user clicks, they all lead to the same website. You may be surprised when you see what it is.

OMG. It is another Elon Musk wants to give you crypto all you have to do is send him some and he will send you back  more!  How many times do these scams have to surface before people remember it was fake last time, and it’s fake again.

I am saddened when I read this. Are people too gullible? Too greedy? Too stupid? Too careless? I really do not understand why this over used fake still catches so many people.

SIGH

I know what you mean. Some scams are fairly clever, but these ones are ridiculous.

My mother in law used to regularly get emails about her CBD gummies order and to click a link. She kept sending me a screenshot and I just kept asking “have you ordered any?” She said no and I waited for her to realise that if she has never ordered any, then why is she going to click a Link to check the delivery!

So I know what you’re saying @MajorHavoc but I'm afraid some people are that gullible with emails and texts and thats why these still come up!

Agreed. It’s sad to see how effective these scams are. And they’re all the same! This is just a repackaged Nigerian Prince scam I used to see in the fax machine at work. Or those old email forwards…Bill Gates will give you $10,000 if you send this to 20 of your friends!

Truly there is nothing new under the sun.

I too was suckered into this by a tweet claiming to be Elon Musk stating he was going to #restorethesnyderverse by buying the rights to DC cinema. I got far too excited before realising my own gullibility.
