Supply chain management firm Blue Yonder is warning that a ransomware attack caused significant disruption to its services, with the outages impacting grocery store chains in the UK.

Blue Yonder (formerly JDA Software) operates as a Panasonic subsidiary with an annual revenue of over a billion USD and 6,000 employees.

The company offers AI-driver supply chain solutions to retailers, manufacturers, and logistics providers, encompassing demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and transportation management.

Among its 3,000 customers are high-profile organizations like DHL, Renault, Bayer, Morrisons, Nestle, 3M, Tesco, Starbucks, Ace Hardware, Procter & Gamble, Sainsbury, and 7-Eleven.

Starbucks Is Using Pens and Paper to Track Pay After Vendor Hack

(Bloomberg) -- Starbucks Corp. said a ransomware attack at a third-party software supplier has disrupted its system for tracking employee payments, forcing the coffee giant to manually track workers’ scheduling and hours.

Blue Yonder Group Inc., a Panasonic subsidiary that provides supply chain management software, said its systems were disrupted by a Nov. 21 “ransomware incident.” Starbucks is among its customers and used Blue Yonder software to schedule shifts and track retail workers’ hours in North America, a company spokesperson said.

Starbucks’ stores are resorting to manual methods such as pen and paper for employee scheduling, the spokesperson said, adding that the incident hasn’t impacted customer service or store hours.

OMG! Pen and Paper for the employees. I hope they have calculators because most can’t count.

Don’t believe me? Try this in any store for example:

Go into a store and buy something for say $4.85 and you hand the cashier $20.00. Wait until he rings it up and the register will tell the cashier how much change to give you back. Before the cashier gives you your change, give him 85 cents. Almost all cashiers now a days will be lost. I had one cashier get out his calculator to figure out how much to give me back in change. ROFLMAO

Blue Yonder SaaS giant breached by Termite ransomware gang

​The Termite ransomware gang has officially claimed responsibility for the November breach of software as a service (SaaS) provider Blue Yonder.

Blue Yonder (formerly JDA Software and operating as a Panasonic subsidiary) is an Arizona-based worldwide supply chain software provider for retailers, manufacturers, and logistics providers.

Its list of over 3,000 customers includes other high-profile companies like Microsoft, Renault, Bayer, Tesco, Lenovo, DHL, 3M, Ace Hardware, Procter & Gamble, Carlsberg, Dole, Wallgreens, Western Digital, and 7-Eleven.

BleepingComputer had previously heard that Termite was behind the attack on Blue Yonder, but this could not be independently confirmed.

This incident has led to a wave of outages affecting customers using the company's software, including the U.S. coffeehouse chain Starbucks and the Morrisons and Sainsbury's supermarket chains in the United Kingdom, due to disruptions affecting Blue Yonder's managed services hosted environment.
