I'm new ti w/r and am using things I'm not familiar with.  After 5 hours, I finally got registered and then I had to reset my password 2 times.  Today I have graduated to the password manager.  I found after many trials and errors, I still had to enter my user name for the website..and then I logged in automatically.  Is this how password manager is designed to work?  If so I can put my book of passwords away and I will be a happy camper.

My next issue is I have another crippled computer and am hoping w/r can repair the issues on it.  If I can get it running properly, how hard is it to add that computer to myconsole and monitor it?

Thanks

Hi maggies_friend (Jeff)

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Let's take the easy one first...the crippled computer...if bty 'crippled' you mean that it has malware infections then installing WSA may assist in cleaning it...but you will have to install WSA as per normal and also activate it...assuming that the malware will allow it. The installation would be undertaken in exactly the same way as the computer you have already installed on, and thereafter it should register in the console automatically.

If however the 'crippling' is due to non malware sources then I am afraid that WSA will not be able to help as itis an antimalware app rather than a system utilities app.

In terms of Password Manager, you should  not have to enter either name or password, at a minimum they should be at the very least autofilled in the approrpiate fields on the login screen for the site, assuming that the first time you went to the site you clicked on the prompt to save the credentials in the Password Manager.

Can you describe in a bit more detail exactly what you do when going to a site with credentials logged in Password Manager...so that we can try to figure this out?

I have posted another message on the board.  I have to take a break for a while.  All I can say is W/R stays available to me all the time, but the console and password manager requires another prompt for user name and password.  I can deal with that, but when I go to more tahn 100 websites each requiring a separet login I would like to each to remain running in the background, if possible.  I'm new to this program and I do like how it works, I just need to get past this issue.

As to the other crippled computer, I ordered webroot on discs to intall on it.  Bot computers are wireless, and I think they transfer info back and forth if they are both runningat once.  Right now I only keep the new on running.  The old one boots up pretty good, but the anti virus programs I have on it stop when it hits something and locks up.  I can't get norton or the other one to start anymore si I'm hoping installing Webbroot will fix the proble.  In not I'll take the poor sick thing to computer hospital. :)
The one that's crippled is an all in one computer which had heat issuesbefore I moved it.

Anyway, any help you can give I will greatlyappreciate.  I can now enter my user name, password and security code pretty well now. lol 🙂

Hi maggies_friend

If the crippled computer is wireless & is connected to the Internet then you do not need the disc. Please follow the steps below closely in terms of installing WSA on the target system/machine!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • Be sure you have or add your Keycode to your Online Console HERE
  • KEEP the computer online during the install to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE). Let us know if it is the Mac version you need.
  • Install with the new installer, entering your Keycode when prompted to do so in the install process
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot
and that should do the job.

Let us know if that helps?

Regards, Baldrick
